Lebanon Firefighters raise over $18,000 for Muscular Dystrophy!
If you drove through Lebanon August 1st or 2nd, you couldn't miss Lebanon Fire District's ladder truck at Hwy 20 & Airport Rd. LFD employees and volunteers took to the streets for the annual "Fill the Boot" MDA fundraiser. Donations raised by this national campaign go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
According to Local 2163 organizer, Mike Maynard, this year was a huge success. Donations were up by approximately 60% over last year, bringing in over $18,000. Last year the Lebanon crew raised close to $11,000 for MDA. Several factors played into the success of the fundraiser. The weekend traffic was particularly busy due to the Oregon Jamboree in Sweet Home. Maynard attributed a lot of this year's huge success to the duty shifts that came down to help. "They were there all day Friday and Saturday. They put in a lot of hours and we couldn't have done it without them."
Captain Moore stated, "people just wanted to give to a good cause."
Lebanon Firefighters thank all the individuals that supported this effort!
The "Fill The Boot" campaign is a nationwide effort by firefighters throughout the country to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
